I painted this in San Miguel de Allende (so it is really, authentically Mexican!)
The hairless chihuahua decoration that you see in the corners is an important Mexican symbol for the afterlife, going back to Aztec origins. Xoloitzcuintli were considered messagers of the dead, and guides to the underworld.
